MIRI – The liaison head of Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) Northern Region was speechless when a prominent figure called, offering to go bald to raise funds for children suffering from cancer.
Jocelyn Hee received the call from Datuk Lorna Enan Muloon, wife of former Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan, on May 26.
Lorna will lose her waist length hair which she had kept for five years at Paul and Jennifer Saloon on Level 2 of Imperial Mall and Court on June 9 at noon.
She hopes to raise RM100,000 for Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society.
According to Lorna, she doesn’t mind going bald for a good cause. It is also to show her support for children with cancer.
She believes more people should come forward to assist the less fortunate in society.
Meanwhile, Jocelyn was touched by the public response to the society’s May 1 fundraising project themed ‘Go Bald 3 – At Miri’.
The goal is to raise awareness of childhood cancer as well as raise RM1.5 million to fund the new SCCS building and provide more comfortable surroundings for children battling cancer.
Go Bald 3 held at Bintang Mega Mall raised RM117,000 with donations continuing to come from the public.
The fund reached RM152,000 as of yesterday. – Borneo Post
