PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail may contest a state seat in the next general election, since she is banned from contesting a parliamentary seat.
According to a Sinar Harian report today, Wan Azizah said she can still contest at state level.
“Although I can choose the area where I wish to contest, I still have to obtain feedback from supporters. The party is thinking about which area is suitable for me,” she was quoted as saying, when met at a PKR event in Penang yesterday.
Wan Azizah had resigned as Permatang Pauh MP in July 2008 to enable her husband and PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim to contest in a by-election.
Anwar had been the Permatang Pauh MP before he went to jail in 1999 and Wan Azizah later won the seat.
