SUBANG JAYA: Mourning the loss of one of their own, police here are calling on witnesses to a possible hit-and-run incident which killed a lance corporal who was returning home from work on Friday.
L/Kpl Basil Gregory Anak Albert Likau (pic) had just wrapped his duties and was travelling home on a motorcycle along Jalan Subang Kelana at about 5am Saturday when he may have rammed another vehicle.
The victim’s Yamaha Ego LC motorcycle was crushed and L/Kpl Basil Gregory died at the scene from severe injuries to the head.
Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Ramli said the two-lane road was dry and clear at the time of the incident, and the weather was fair. The accident left an eight metre long skid mark on the pavement.
“Judging by the damage to the motorcycle, he may have hit the vehicle. We are calling on any witnesses of the accident to come forward to assist investigations,” he said.
L/Kpl Basil Gregory’s body was taken to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and later flown back to his hometown in Miri.
The 27-year-old served as the camp commandant of the Subang Jaya district police. He was unmarried.
The case is being investigated for reckless driving. – Star Online
