PETALING JAYA: Politicians and ulama with extremist views are the ones who helped create people like Islamic State (IS) militants, said social activist Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir ( pix ).
“I think people should realise that ‘not joining IS’ can’t be limited to not taking up arms.
“It also involves not thinking like IS,” tweeted Marina on Tuesday.
“When I see politicians and ulamas say ‘don’t join IS’, all I want to say is ‘shut up because you helped create them’,” she said.
The daughter of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad explained that many people “think like IS but may never take up violence”.
But she says that it just takes one person to create havoc.
“When that one person does, regardless of whether they are IS or not, then others can’t quite condemn him. Because actually they agree with him.
“Thus the cycle continues,” she said. – The Star Online
