KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 ― The women’s wing of MCA has urged the police today to investigate “Red Shirt” movement leader Datuk Jamal Yunos for alleged links to Islamic State (IS), after the Umno leader claimed to have information on the terror group.

Wanita MCA urges cops to investigate Jamal Yunos for IS linksAccording to the wing, Jamal’s “reliable source” would have to be an IS operative himself to have such knowledge of the terror group member’s movements or plans, rather than any intelligence agencies who would not divulge such top secret information.

“Although Jamal Yunos said he would hand over such information to the police, Wanita MCA on the other hand, urges the police to immediately begin probe against the Red Shirt leader as to how he obtained such information, to verify if the data he holds has basis or not,” the wing chairman Datuk Heng Seai Kie said in a statement.

“Moreover, Bukit Aman must also investigate if Jamal Yunos himself has any links with IS or any other terrorist organisations such as Al-Qaeda, or Jamaah Islamiyah whose supporters have been detained in Malaysia.”

The wing said the Home Ministry should then use preventive laws like Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA) and Prevention of Terrorism Act 2015 (POTA) on Jamal if any terrorist links were revealed.

On Wednesday, Jamal claimed to be “reliably” informed that electoral watchdog group Bersih 2.0 has been infiltrated by IS militants, but provided no evidence to support his allegation.

“We’ll make a police report. We have trustworthy info that they have been infiltrated by IS and Daesh. We’ll leave it to the authorities to deal with it,” the Sg Besar Umno chief said. Daesh is another name for IS.

Jamal also claimed that the upcoming Bersih 5 rally would involve the takeover of vital locations such as airports in the manner of protests in Thailand, but again did not provide any evidence to support the allegation. – Malay Mail
