Zam: Siti Nurhaliza ‘will bury Najib supporters’

After coming under attack from former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak now faces another threat – from Malaysian diva Siti Nurhaliza.

Former information minister Zainuddin Maidin said Siti’s support for Mahathir is a huge threat to Najib, because her supporters vastly outnumber the prime minister’s backers.

“Millions have read news (of Siti supporting Mahathir) through social media. Support for Siti is more than enough to bury the thousands of Najib supporters from Umno, NGOs and others,” Zainuddin penned in his blog today.

In a posting on Instagram yesterday, Siti said she will always love and be with Mahathir, who recently claimed that he was “alone” in his quest to seek answers from Najib.

Zainuddin (left), popularly known as Zam, said if the support from Siti and actress Rozita Che Wan for Mahathir were not threats to Najib, the mainstream media would have picked up the story.

“Siti’s support for Mahathir, which was spread widely on social media, was not published in any of Malaysia’s mainstream papers today. I bought all the mainstream papers this morning to see if I was right, and I was!” Zam wrote.

Zam added, it was possible that these popular divas, could even turn the tide against Najib in the next general election.

“Siti’s voice is loved by millions, and Rozita’s beauty in moderation outshines the beauty of women who wear clothes or jewellery worth millions. Support during elections is not just based on political beliefs.

“Artists (should be) feared because their voices and images are in the hearts and souls of the people.” he warned.

As an example of the power of music, he cited the song ‘Singkong dan Keju’ (Cassava and Cheese) that had been used to inspire Indonesians to rise up against former president Suharto.

Mahathir has been stepping up his efforts to oust Najib from office, while seeking answers to questions such as who ordered the killing of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu. – Malaysiakini
