MoCS lodges police report against Taib in Kuching

Movement for Change, Sarawak (MoCS) leader Francis Siah has lodged a police report against Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud for corruption, money laundering and abuse of power.

However, his invitation on March 4 to Taib to be present at the Kuching Central Police Station (CPS) where he filed the report went unanswered, with neither the billionaire chief minister nor any of his representatives showing up.

Siah had wanted Taib to come to the CPS by 1pm so that they could together lodge the report.

Siah officially lodged the report at 1.15pm with Corporal Nursiti Rafidah. He also handed over a compilation of a series of reports extracted from Sarawak Report, Bruno Manser Fund and news portals.

Siah said his statement would be taken by Investigating Officer Inspector Mohd Ezry next week.

“So, today we judge Taib guilty of all the accusations against him because he did not turn up.

“I am lodging the police for the crimes of money laundering, graft and abuse of power,” he said.

In his report, Siah said the allegations and accusations against Taib were widely reported in the whistleblower website Sarawak Report, by indigenous advocacy group Bruno Manser Fund and news portals and blogs in Malaysia and overseas.

“It must be noted that most of the corruption and money laundering and blatant abuse of power have documentary evidence.

“I appeal to the police to conduct an immediate investigation into the alleged crimes,” he said.

Siah said he would submit his police report to the federal police headquarters at Bukit Aman in Kuala Lumpur next week.

“I also appeal to the Commercial Crimes Division of Bukit Aman to conduct an immediate investigations as there are elements of money laundering involved,” he added.

He said he has done what any law-abiding citizens should do against Taib and handed over documents containing corruption, money laundering and abuse of power to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in addition to the police report.

He said his next move would be to meet Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to hand over the evidence.

“I have sought for an appointment, but so far there is no news yet when he wants to meet me.

“I am happy if he wants to see us, and if he does not, it is okay with us,” he said.

Siah also expressed his disappointment with the police for keeping a close watch on MoCS .

“I want to assure the police that MoCS will not take part in any illegal gathering or rallies in Kuching or any other place.

“There is no need to monitor MoCS as we do things in accordance with the law.

“The police should take MoCS off their radar screen. They have been monitoring us about efforts by other people to organise a public protest against Taib at Padang Merdeka recently or spreading of text messages,” he said.

He said MoCS will not take part in such events until such time when it felt it needed to do so.

“If we have to organise public rally, we will do it only once,” he said, adding that any rally would have to do with demanding Taib to step down as chief minister.

He said MoCS has set Aug 13 this year for Taib to quit, failing which MoCS would take whatever is necessary to force him out of power. – By Stephen Tiong, Malaysiakini

Not known yet PR can run the country better. Apalah mau dijadikan senjata oleh Anuar untuk kepentingan peribadi mereka sendiri. If Malaysia falls into PR hand rakyat will be suffering but the crony of PR are sharing the country wealth. If Taib really corrupted let LAW decide and take action. Ini kuncu PR yang lebih sibok. Jangan menganguk di air keroh. Saya tetap berdiri di belakang BN walau pun buan Taib bacause to me BN can do much better that PR did. Refer to States in West Malaysia under PR hand.
